Feeding Hope When School Is Out

Ensuring No Child Goes Hungry: How Saving Seats Bridges the Meal Gap During School Breaks

When school doors close for holidays and summer break, thousands of children lose access to the breakfast and lunch programs they rely on. For many families, that gap can be overwhelming.

That’s where Saving Seats steps in — by providing shelf-stable meal kits that help keep pantries full and bellies nourished. Each kit is designed to be easy, accessible, and family-friendly. Kids can even help prepare them!

The idea is simple: meals that don’t require refrigeration, but still bring warmth to the table. Things like chili, chicken and dumplings, or taco bowls, made with ingredients you can keep on the shelf until needed.

For families who register for pickup, it’s more than a meal m it’s peace of mind. And for the volunteers and donors who make it happen, it’s a reminder that we can all play a part in caring for one another.

Because feeding people isn’t just about food. It’s about showing up, lifting spirits, and saving a seat for every child in our community.
